Skull jewellery is once again popular. The young hang skull pendants on their phones and bags, celebrities wear skull rings. Originally skulls were only a Buddhist thing. Similarly, Goths highlight suffering, to contrast from living and create an optimistic outlook. Skulls show that life is temporary, and are a symbol that we're all flirting with death -  representing a quest to survive and be careful - explaining why pirates fly the skull and cross bones.
